Sentosa

Sentosa

Sentosa is one of the most visited islands by both locals and tourists for its resorts and entertainment attractions. This island has no shortage of activities from the unbelievable SEA aquarium to Universal Studios. The island also has some of Singapore's best beaches like Palawan and Tanjong beach. These beaches paired with a great bar and food scene is what keeps people coming. When you get to Sentosa Station you'll find Tiger Sky Tower, which has panoramic views that stretch as far as Indonesia. This island is easily accessible with ample transportation from Singapore City.

Price and getting there: We recommend purchasing a Sentosa Island Pass from Vivocity Mall. This pass will cover the entrance fee and all bus trips around the island. If you want to enter one time, it will cost $15 per adult for the cable car and $2 for a car or taxi. If you are a local in Singapore, we recommend getting the annual $25 ($20 annual renewal thereafter) Sentosa Islander membership. This membership offers you free entry into Sentosa via the Sentosa Boardwalk, Sentosa Express, and Sentosa Gantry (drive-in). You can also opt for a $50 family membership instead where one parent can be a member and have up to 4 immediate family members as supplementary members. Parking prices vary depending on location.

Coney Island

Coney Island

Coney Island is an island of the Northeast side of Singapore just off Punggol. Coney Island is labeled as Serangoon Island on many maps, but the name was changed to Coney Island when it was bought out in the 1950's. Developments on the island never really took off and now it is a nature filled uninhabited island great for bike riding enthusiasts. The Island also has a cute beach and very Instagrammable gates.

Price and getting there: There is no fee to enter Coney Island. To get there with public transportation you can Bus 84 from Punggol bus interchange and alight at the northern end of Punggol Road. If you want to drive or take a taxi, then just drive to the northern end of Punggol Road.

Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin is one of the most tourist visited islands. This island currently has one of Singapore's last kampungs, jungle, and mangrove swamps. All of these with beautiful views of the sea and marine wildlife. This is another great island for bike riders as it has multiple routes to bike on— the most popular one leading to the Chek Jawa Wetlands, an ecosystem that includes beaches, forestry, and mangrove forests. Bikes at the Island can range from $8 to $20 for the day. For advanced bikers, check out the Ketam Mountain Bike Park where riders can get in a quick 10km ride around Ketam Quarry.

Price and getting there: You can take a ferry or bumboat from Changi Point Ferry terminal to Pulau Ubin. One way costs approximately $8 round trip.

Kusu Island

Kusu Island

Kusu Island is known for its tortoises. Yes, you read that right. The name actually means Tortoise Island and has multiple statues to represent them. This name is attributed to an age old story about a tortoise who turned into an island to save a bunch of people. This island has beautiful temples like the Da Bo Gong temple. You can also walk 152 step to the three kramats or Muslim shrines as well. You can also have a picnic at one of the picnic tables on the island or at the beach after visiting the Tortoise Sanctuary located near the center of the Island. This Island is perfect for a fun day trip filled with history and nature.

St. John's Island

Kusu Island

St. John's Island is rumoured to be a haunted island by locals. This is because it used to be a quarantine site for many immigrants who arrived with infectious diseases like cholera in the late 1800s. After that, it held political detainees, then was turned into a drug rehabilitation centre.

After all of this history, St. John's Island is now a peaceful and calm island covered with nature, beaches, and lagoons. There is flora and fauna that can be found on the island that you will see while going on a self-guided hike. You can also take a walk to Lazarus Island from here.

Price and getting there: Round trips cost $15 for adults and $12 for children. Ferries can be taken from Marina South Pier. The ferries usually stop at St. John's Island first.

Lazarus Island & Pulau Seringat

Kusu Island

Lazarus Island is very easy to get to from Johns Island. This island has a very nice beach that is fairly empty. Singapore's beaches are usually pretty packed making this a lovely getaway for those looking to escape the regular beach crowd. The pristine beaches make this a definite island destination for locals and tourists alike. That being said, use the bathrooms at St. John's Island before hopping onto Lazarus Island as Lazarus has no amenities.

Price and getting there: Round trips cost $15 for adults and $12 for children. Ferries can be taken from Marina South Pier. The ferries usually stop at St. John's Island first.

Sisters' Islands Marine Park

Sisters' Island

The Sister's Islands have been awarded marine park status and do not disappoint. If you are interested in nature and amazing marine life, this is just the place for you. The name Sisters' Island comes from the fact that there are two islands. There is Big Sister and Little Sister Island. As visitors, you can only visit Big Sister Island, Little Sister Island is designated for wildlife conservation and research purposes. This is a great island to go to if you enjoy diving as well! Certified divers have the option of going to two different diving areas that allow you to dive as low as 15m under sea level. The Island also has beautiful forest trails for you to visit.

Price and getting there: There are no ferries that go to Sisters' Island so you will have to charter a boat from Marina South Pier or West Coast Pier. The cost of these chartered boats are approximately $200.

Depending on the island you go to, you will have to purchase tickets for boats, ferries, and food. To pay these fees, it would be wise to use a credit card where you can get up to 5% rewards on all your spending.
