Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is a great rewards program overall for several reasons: the number of countries and destinations it covers, its membership in the Star Alliance, the vast opportunities it offers to earn miles, and the value of those miles. Singapore Airlines flies to over 1,000 destinations in 170 countries, or 192 countries if you include its Star Alliance partners.

Rated as one of the best airlines in the world, Singapore Airlines offers a rewards program whose greatest advantage may be the partnership network it has built. It has 50 financial service partners from insurance to banks, 37 hotels and 12 retail partners where you can earn miles for your purchases.

You don't necessarily need to apply for a KrisFlyer credit card to earn miles; you can earn them even with other banks such as HSBC,CIMB, DBS, OCBC, Standard Chartered and UOB. These banks have their own rewards programs with points that you can convert to KrisFlyer miles. However, you can also apply for a KrisFlyer credit card and earn miles even more efficiently with American Express or UOB bank.

As is the case with most airlines, redeeming miles for purchases isn't the best use of your Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles. Being a Star Alliance member, Singapore Airlines has worldwide coverage, with its best connections located in Europe. When it comes to the value of miles to S$1, and comparing it to that of its competitors, it is better to redeem KrisFlyer miles on flights outside of Southeast Asia, such as those to Europe and Australia.

Scoot Insider does not offer membership tiers, but its Insider rewards program allows you to earn miles on all trips booked with scoot, 1 mile per S$1 spent, as well as on trips with mixed itineraries which include Singapore Airlines in addition to Scoot.

As a Scoot Insider you can also create a KrisFlyer account, sync the two accounts, and start earning miles on even more flights. You will be able to earn points on KrisFlyer and Scoot Insider and redeem those points for flights on both platforms as well.

With over 60 destinations (19 of them in China alone) and 18 countries overall, Scoot Insider program is a great option for those looking for a low-cost airline which still has perks for travel in Southeast Asia. The greatest advantage of the Scoot Tigerair Insider program is the fact that, as a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, their rewards programs are also connected. This means you can earn miles on KrisFlyer and redeem them on Scoot low-cost flights.

While it is important to note that 1 mile/S$1 spent on Scoot might not have the best value, most flights offered are within Southeast Asian, and again with the KrisFlyer partnership you can get the best of both worlds – travel long distances with Singapore Airlines, and use Scoot for shorter-distance flights in Southeast Asia.

In partnership with KrisFlyer, Scoot Insider also offers accelerated miles earning through UOB credit card and UOB debit card. UOB credit card will earn you 3 KrisFlyer miles per every S$1 spent on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, KrisFlyer and KrisShop, 3 miles on every day spend with a min of S$500 spend on Singapore Airlines Group. KrisFlyer UOB Debit card is an even better option, offering 5.4 KrisFlyer miles on every S$1 spend and up to 6.4 miles /S$1 spend with salary crediting.
