What Makes Citi Lazada Credit Card Stand Out

There's no doubt that Citi Lazada is the best miles-earning credit card for Lazada loyalists on the market–especially for those who are also social spenders. Cardholders earn 4 miles (10pts) per S$1 spend on Lazada, which is one of the highest online rates on the market. Even more, orders of S$50+ are eligible for a S$1.99 shipping rebate (up to 4x/month) and cardholders have access to exclusive Lazada offers & discounts year-round.

When not shopping online, cardholders can still easily earn rewards. In fact, consumers earn 2 miles per S$1 spend on local dining, entertainment (including Netflix & Spotify), travel and transport (including Grab & Gojek). For this reason, Citi Lazada card is more flexible than many other shopping cards. It offers a wider variety of offline rewards categories than both HSBC Revolution and Citi Rewards Card, and its online rewards are also quite expansive considering Lazada offers everything from fashion & electronics to appliances & pet supplies.

Nonetheless, Citi Lazada Card does have an earnings cap. Cardholders can earn up to 4,000 miles (10,000pts) per month, which is equivalent to about S$40 in value-to-consumer. While this aligns with many of its close competitors, some alternatives–like HSBC Revolution Card–do not cap earnings at all. It's also worth mentioning that Citi Lazada Card has a S$192.6 annual fee, which is waived for just 1 year. Many other shopping cards offer consumers the chance to earn continuous fee waivers by reaching a yearly minimum spend.

Even still, Citi Lazada Card is an excellent option for online shoppers who favour Lazada, especially those who want to use their credit card offline as well. With just S$1,000 monthly spend, Lazada loyalists can max out monthly rewards and ultimately, earn up to S$480 in rewards value per year. For social & online spenders with a monthly shopping budget of S$1k, Citi Lazada Card may just be the best option on the market.

At first, Citi Rewards Card may seem quite similar to Citi Lazada Card–however, Citi Rewards Card's strength lies in its comprehensive online rewards, as opposed to miles for loyalty spend. Cardholders earn 4 miles (10pts) per S$1 spend online, including on online food & grocery delivery, Grab bookings and other retail. Cardholders also earn 4 miles per S$1 on fashion spend both online & offline, plus discounts with brands and companies like Shopee and Zalora.

Nonetheless, non-fashion offline spend earns just 0.4 miles per S$1, making Citi Rewards Card less of a match for local social spenders. Earnings are also capped at 4,000 miles (10k pts) per month, and the annual fee of S$192.6 is waived just 1 year.

Citi Lazada Card v. OCBC Titanium Card

If you want a no-fee shopping card that rewards spend with a variety of merchants, you may want to consider OCBC Titanium Rewards Card. Cardholders earn 4 miles (10pts) per S$1 spend on fashion as well as with retailers like Amazon, Qoo10, IKEA & more. Like Citi Lazada Card, earnings are capped at 4,000 miles (10k pts) per month, which translates to about S$40 value-to-consumer. However, OCBC Titanium Card allows consumers to earn a fee waiver with just S$10k annual spend (about S$833/month). Therefore, shoppers with S$1k monthly shopping spend can both max out rewards earnings while also avoiding paying an annual fee.

If you're a local social spender and shop online for more than retail, consider Citi Rewards Card. Cardholders not only earn 2 miles per S$1 spend on local dining & entertainment, they also earn 2 miles per S$1 for all spend online, including for bookings and bill-pay. There's no minimum spend requirement to begin earning, and no cap on monthly earnings. Even better, consumers can earn a fee-waiver by spending just S$12.5k annually. As a result, HSBC Revolution Card is better for shoppers who have broader online spend and who want to earn miles without worrying about added costs.
Citi Lazada Card v. DBS Woman's World MasterCard
      • Annual Fee: S$194.40
      • Stand-Out: Get up to 10X DBS Points (or 20 miles) for online purchases, 3X DBS Point (or 6 miles) for overseas purchases and 1X DBS Point (or 2 miles) for other purchases

For big shoppers who spend about S$2.1k/month online, DBS Woman's World MasterCard may be the perfect fit. Cardholders earn 4 miles per S$1 online spend, up to 8,000 miles a month–double the cap imposed by Citi Lazada Card. Additionally, consumers earn 1.2 miles per S$1 overseas, which is higher than the 0.4 miles offered by competitors. Larger transactions can easily be split into payments across up to 24 months with DBS's 0% interest, no-processing fee instalment plan. And finally, the S$192.6 fee is waived with S$25k annual spend.

Nonetheless, DBS Woman's World Card is better fit for higher spenders than Citi Lazada Card. Consumers must earn S$80k+ in annual salary to even qualify, and spend about S$2.1k/month to qualify for the fee-waiver. Rewards are also more limited, with elevated rates applying only to online spend. Ultimately, those with smaller shopping budgets who primarily shop on Lazada may prefer Citi Lazada Card.
