Great Eastern's GREAT Maternity Care plan is a standalone maternity plan that aims to financially protect the pregnant mother and her newborn for 3 years. What makes it stand out is the fact that you are not obligated to purchase another insurance policy—unlike most maternity insurance plans. However, while this feature can make the plan a suitable option for some people, GREAT Maternity Care's restrictions surrounding certain pregnancy situations may make it less suitable for others.

Great Eastern GREAT Maternity Care Highlights & Benefits

Great Eastern's GREAT Maternity Care plan is a standalone maternity insurance policy. It provides financial protection against the mother's total and permanent disability or death, the newborn's death, pregnancy complications and congenital illnesses. There are two options to choose from: the Essential plan, with a sum assured of S$5,000 or the Enhanced plan with a sum assured of S$10,000. Premiums are paid once and customers will receive 3 years of coverage: From policy inception to 30 days after the child is born for mothers and from birth to the third policy year for newborns. Unlike most maternity insurance policies, it does not come tied to a life insurance policy. However, individuals do have the option to easily sign up to a life insurance policy within 90 days of their child's birth with no medical underwriting.

Great Eastern also offers a daily hospitalisation care benefit of S$100 or S$200 for a maximum of 30 days. This benefit will be paid out if you are hospitalised for any of the covered pregnancy complications. It will also be paid out if your child gets admitted to the ICU or HDU due to any of the covered congenital illnesses, 15 juvenile conditions and even conditions such as hand, foot and mouth disease.
