For instance, manual or high-risk workers such as policemen or construction workers are likely to find the PA Assurance plans to be competitively priced for million dollar coverage. Furthermore, families may appreciate Income's wide variety of helpful benefits including a child educational support benefit, trauma counseling and above average medical coverage. However, the PA Assurance plan may not be not a great fit for most other consumers due to its high cost.

Income PA Assurance Plans Highlights

Income's PA Assurance can be a good option for those who need comprehensive coverage and aren't too cost-conscious. There are four options to choose from: Plan 1 which is the basic tier plan, Plan 2 & Plan 3, which are the mid-range options and Plan 4, which is the top-tier option. Generally, we found their premiums to cost between average to 43% above the industry average. However, there is one exception: Plan 4 is especially competitive for those working in class 4 occupations such as policemen, firefighters and construction workers. Despite this, we found it's miscellaneous benefits like medical and child support fund coverage to be consistently above industry average. Another bonus feature is that you can buy this policy online if you are purchasing Plan 1 or Plan 2.

This graph shows the cheapest personal accident insurance plans in Singapore.

In terms of coverage, the Assurance plans offer a variety of benefits that are hard to find in most other personal accident plans. For example, beyond the main coverages of accidental death, permanent disability and burns, Income also includes benefits in the base plans that are typically offered as optional add-ons by its competitors. For instance, every Assurance plan offers physiotherapy, diagnostic procedures and tests due to broken bones, home modification and ambulance fee coverage. Furthermore, should you get into an accident overseas, Income's Assurance plans also provides worldwide coverage, 24-hour emergency assistance and an emergency evacuation benefit.

Due to its comprehensive coverage and family-oriented benefits like miscarriage coverage, child support benefits and trauma counseling, we believe this plan could be a good option for affluent families. However, it is important to note that does not offer free coverage for children. This means that it may not be the best option for parents who want only want simple and free coverage for their children.

Coverage Also Includes

  • Acts of terrorism
  • Riot, strike, civil commotion, hijack, murder, assault
  • Disappearance

  • Drowning
  • Miscarriage due to accident
  • Motorcycling

Income PA Assurance Plan 1

Income's basic tier PA Assurance Plan 1 costs between 20-60% above average compared to basic personal accident plans. This makes it a less than ideal option for consumers who prioritise cost over coverage. Plan 1's coverage is quite comprehensive and there are a broad range of benefits. For instance, in addition to S$100,000 of accidental death and total and permanent disability coverage, you will also get a weekly income benefit (to help make ends meet while you're disabled), a daily hospital cash benefit, physiotherapy and home modification coverage. It is also one of the few plans offering coverage for risky and manual labor occupations, such as police work, construction and paramedics.

If you are willing to pay extra because you want to have counseling or physiotherapy, this plan could be a good option to consider. However, if you are not set on a particular benefit, you should note there are plans available that can be up to 60% cheaper for similar coverage.

Income PA Assurance Plan 2 & 3

Income's PA Assurance's mid-tier Plan 2 and Plan 3 options cost well above average for mid-range personal accident plans. In fact, even when you compare Plan 3 to the average top-tier plan, it still ends up costing up to 11% above average for most occupations. However, the coverage may make up for the above average premiums. This is because you will be getting a wide scope of benefits included in the base plan, while the amount of coverage you'll receive for these benefits is higher than average. For instance, coverage amounts for mobility aids, medical expenses and physiotherapy are not only above average for mid-tier plans, but they're up to 50% above the average coverage amounts for top-tier plans as well. Last, these plans also offer benefits such as trauma counseling and coverage for broken bone or fracture testing/diagnosis, which are not typically offered by other insurers.

Both plans may not be the best fit for those hoping to get a high value plan, since there are plans offering similar coverage but for less. However, Plan 3 may be a reasonable alternative to a top-tier plan. This is because it costs slightly below average compared to top-tier plans that offer S$500,000 of total coverage and also includes a wider scope of benefits than most PA plans on the market.

Income PA Assurance Plan 4

Income's PA Assurance Plan 4 offers the best value out of all 4 plans and can be an appropriate option for affluent families or high-risk workers. For instance, not only is it one of the very few personal accident plans offering million dollar coverage for high risk occupations, but it is also the cheapest. In terms of coverage, you will receive S$1 million of accidental death coverage, S$1.5 million of permanent disability coverage and a plethora of miscellaneous benefits. These include trauma counseling, a child support fund, physiotherapy, home modification benefits, a weekly cash payout when disabled and daily hospital income.

Due to the benefits, this plan can also be a good option if you are seeking maximum protection for your family and price is not a determining factor in your selection. The child support benefit, weekly cash benefit and hospital income benefit all ensure that your family will not be left without financial support should you get into an accident. Furthermore, the trauma counseling can be beneficial for small children who may have a hard time coping with a life-altering disability.

Optional Coverage

If you are willing to pay an extra 15% on your premiums, Income PA Assurance also offers an optional infectious disease add-on. This add-on will cover you for 22 infectious diseases including hand, foot and mouth disease, rubella, tuberculosis, malaria and yellow fever. The coverage you receive with this rider mimics the base plan coverage. This means you will receive death, medical expenses, daily hospital income, mobility aids and ambulance fee coverage among others but for infectious diseases. Though the combined cost of the policy and the add-on end up being quite pricey, this option may be worthwhile to consider if you or your family are at risk for any of these diseases.
