UOB Absolute Cashback Card Rebate Programme

While there is no cashback cap or minimum spend requirement to earn 1.7% cashback, it is clear that while the rewards rate is unlimited, it is most beneficial for those with higher budgets. While other cards on the market offer 3% - 8% cashback, those rates are limited to certain categories while the cashback itself has limits and caps while this card does not.

UOB Absolute Cashback limitless 1.7% cashback and the American Express Card privileges make it not only a good fit for business professionals who often travel and don't have a set budget, but also given that the card offers cashback on all expenses including school fees, rent, insurance and healthcare, an equally good fit for families. • Transactions incurred by the supplementary cardholder are considered in the calculation of qualifying spend
  • Cashback can only be used to offset against the billed amount for your card the following month

  • Cashback is automatically forfeited and is non-transferable when an account is closed

UOB Absolute Cashback Card v. UOB One Card

Consider this if you want to maximise your cash rebate and spend about S$2,000 per month
  • Pros
    • Good fit for budgets of at least S$2,000 per month
    • Easy cashback on daily spend
    • Gives rebates for paying bills
    • Cons
      • Doesn't fit high budgets or low/inconsistent budgets
      • Annual fee

Consumers who consistently spend at least S$2,000 a month can maximise cashback with UOB One Card. Cardholders earn cashback based on tiers of monthly spend, with S$2,000/month for 3 consecutive months earning S$300 quarterly cashback–averaging to S$100/month. While UOB Absolute Cashback Card doesn't have a cashback cap, with its 1.7% rate, earning S$100/month would require a monthly spend of S$5,882.

Despite its somewhat simple cashback programme, spending even a dollar below S$2,000 drops cardholders' rewards potential to S$33/month (with spend below S$1,000 earning only S$17/month). To earn S$17 per month with UOB Absolute Cashback card, you need to spend exactly S$1,000 per month, and with no limitations regarding spend categories, you will earn on all spend. Overall, customers who spend consistently S$2,000 per month would benefit from UOB One Card, whereas those who want to earn on everything they spend and have higher expenses would benefit from UOB Absolute Cashback.

UOB Absolute Cashback Card v. OCBC Frank Card

Consider this if you frequently spend money on shopping and entertainment
      • Pros
        • 6% rebate on online, mobile contactless, and FX spend
        • Fee waiver with S$10,000 annual spend
        • Cons
          • 0.3% rebate on general purchases
          • Annual fee after 2 years
          • Capped cashback at S$75

Mid-to-lower spenders looking for no-fee cashback on online shopping and entertainment might be interested in OCBC Frank Card. OCBC Frank Card rewards online and mobile spend as well as foreign currency spend with 6% cashback, capped at S$75/month after a minimum spend of S$600. UOB Absolute Cashback Card doesn't have min spend requirement or a cashback cap, but to reach the S$50 cap OCBC Frank Card offers for the categories (mobile, online, foreign) with highest rates, you need to spend S$2,941, compared to S$833 for OCBC Frank customers.

OCBC Frank Card's annual fee of S$80 is waived for 2 years, then subsequently with each annual spend of S$10,000–which is reasonable for most consumers. UOB Absolute Cashback Card's annual fee of S$192.6 is waived for the first year only. OCBC Frank Card may be a better fit for consumers who reliably spend S$600/month, whereas UOB Cashback Absolute Card is better suited to those who spend at least S$2,500 and are interested in additional American Express Card perks.
