Paradise in Nature
My stay at Lloyd's Inn is a haven of tranquillity that invigorated my senses and soul, giving me a well-deserved break from the fast-paced city life.
Lloyd's Inn employs an open concept design for their rooms, with big picture windows allowing in plenty of sunlight and a super high ceiling that makes the room feel extremely spacious.
For example, there are no enclosed wardrobes in the room. Instead, you can hang your clothes on an open bar. There is also an outdoor bath, allowing you to luxuriate out in the open while being given the privacy you deserve.
Need to get work done during your staycation? You will be glad to know that every room comes equipped with capabilities for you to work productively.
Part of my purpose at the Lloyd's Inn was to try working in a different location, and the experience left me amazed at the amount of work I can get done.
The work table is spacious, giving you ample space for your laptop and documents. There is also adequate lighting to ensure that you can work comfortably without straining your eyes.
The Wifi provided was adequate for getting work done, and best of all, Lloyd's Inn also provides a Bluetooth Logitech keyboard and a wireless mouse for guests’ use. These come in handy when you're working on your tablet or iPad.
This work setup helped to foster an environment for deep work and peak productivity.
If you do not need to work on your staycation, you can use the area for mindful meditation in the morning, allowing yourself to clear your thought for a brand-new day.
An Island Vacation in the City Centre
As you can probably tell by now, Lloyd’s Inn spared no expenses when it comes to making their rooms as comfortable and lounge-worthy as possible; so much so that you might not want to leave your room during your stay.
But that’s not all the hotel has to offer for guests.
Well-Equipped Outdoor Pantry
The outdoor pantry, which overlooks the tree-lined streets of Lloyd's Road, is a communal space with chairs and tables, and everything else you’ll need to eat at.
This includes a microwave, water/ice dispenser, coffee machine, and a vending machine.
Best of all, the communal space means that you can spend time making friends with other travellers or individuals.
Open Roof Terrace
Fancy having a cold beer or a refreshing cocktail after a long day out? You can spend the evening and enjoy the sunset at the Roof Terrace.
The fairy lights and shared bar table make it a nice place for you to hang out and chill beneath the stars with your friends or loved ones. As there are no drink establishments within the hotel, you can consider grabbing a drink or two outside before heading there.
Dipping Pool for You to Cool Down
Singapore's tropical climate means it's hot and humid most times of the year. To cool yourself down from the sweltering heat, you can gain some repieve with a dip in the outdoor waddling pool.
The various well-designed open spaces at the hotel will leave you feeling like you’re on an island of tranquility in the middle of the city centre.
Lobby and Reception Counter
Should you need help during your staycation at Lloyd's Inn, you can approach the friendly and welcoming team at the reception counter, which is open 24 hours a day.
During your stay, you can also enjoy complimentary breakfast at the nearby Artisan Boulangerie Co., which is just a 3-minute walk away.
The hotel provides you with complimentary breakfast vouchers during your stay, which can be used to redeem a fresh pastry and coffee from the café to perk up your morning.
Moreover, Lloyd’s Inn’s central location means that there is a multitude of restaurants and cafés within walking distance of the hotel, including popular Thai food and the iconic Killiney Kopitiam.
A Quaint Up-Scale Neighbourhood
Typically, it costs between S$2 million to more than S$8 million to own a property on Lloyd Road, where the hotel is located at. However, for just S$160 a night, you can experience what it’s like to live there for yourself.
Other than it’s near proximity to Orchard Road and Somerset MRT stations, Lloyd's Inn is located in a vibrant neighbourhood with endless activities for you to try.
For the adventurous, the River Valley neighbourhood is rich in history. It was once home to wealthy Europeans and Chinese merchants who wanted to escape the crowded town centre. In fact, former Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew also resided in this neighbourhood.
For nature lovers, Fort Canning Park is only a 10-minute walk away from Lloyd's Inn.
It features nine historical gardens that you can explore with trail guides for you to follow. If you want an immersive experience at the park, you can also download the augmented reality trail, BALIKSG: The Fort Canning Trail, app.
Lloyd's Inn is perfect for individuals looking to take a retreat for rest and renewal without breaking your wallet. With the many rooms offered at various price points, there is something for everyone at different budgets.
Its ideal location also makes it easily accessible to many places of interest, full of opportunities to take all the pictures and #ootds you’ll ever want or need. The amenities offered also makes it a good place to get some work done as well.
For its price, I can truly say that Lloyd’s Inn is one of the best hotels in Singapore for individuals as they would be paying below-average rates for a comfortable stay.
